Launch of DIARY
31 October 2025
We are excited to be initiating the Diabetes In Asians at Risk in Youth (DIARY) study. To date, little is known about the risks of diabetes in Singaporean youth (<40y). In the latest National Population Health Survey 2024 (released Oct 2025), 1 in 11(9.1%) amongst those aged 18-74y were diagnosed to have diabetes. Although the rates of diabetes seemed less (1.8%) among those aged 30-39y, 28% in this group were previously undiagnosed. Screening for chronic diseases in Singapore only start above the age of 40y. We are likely missing many diabetes diagnoses amongst youth who have diabetes or are nearly there (prediabetes).
Today's youth represent our hope for tomorrow. Join us in our journey as we aim to identify those at highest risk of diabetes in today's Singaporean youth using novel tools!
